Sonuga, others for Becoming to celebrate womanhood at MUSON Centre on Friday

titilope-sonugaTitilope Sonuga, Intel Ambassador in ‘She Will Connect,’ an Intel initiative to bridge the online gender gap, will stage the show Becoming. sonuga is the country’s first inauguration poet; she performed at the swearing-in ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on May 29, and is set to bring one-of-a-kind spoken word poetry and music performance Becoming to Agip Recital Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, next tomorrow, Friday, November 6, 2015. Time is 7pm.

The coming of age story is an exclusive celebration of womanhood, brought alive through an all-female ensemble that will feature the soul stirring poetry of Titilope Sonuga and the breathtaking vocals of powerhouse performers, Ruby Gyang, Omolara, Falana and Deborah Ohiri.

Sonuga, formerly based in Canada, stunned lovers of poetry last Friday also at Agip Recital Hall with her poetic virtuoso. So, too, did Falana, who was also formerly based in Havana, Cuba, with her guitar and vocal prowess. They both performed at the maiden edition of Lagos International Poetry Festival that ended on Sunday. With the other three women, Becoming promises to be a spectacular performance that will tell the unique story of women in an effort to liberate them from age-old stereotypes and cultural prejudice.
