Contrary to the elections results declared by the Returning Officer that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the re-run polls in Chikun local Government Area, the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, (KADSIECOM) Chairman, Dr. Saratu Dikko has said that no election took place in Council Area.

Chikun local government was one of the five local government areas where elections were declared inconclusive during the May 12, Council polls in the State.

However, the re-run election held in the local government area on June 6, was marked with protest by youths who apprehended two Kaduna APC legislators with electoral materials.

But, the lawmakers were rescued by the armed policemen and soldiers from the hands of the protesters.

Dr. Saratu, while speaking with Journalists, said a new date shall be announce during a stakeholders meeting at KADSIECOM Secretariat in
Kaduna.

Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the Chikun local government election by the returning electoral officer some hours before KADSIECOM Chairman’s shocking revelation .

Announcing the results at the Chikun local Government Secretariat last Wednesday the Returning Officer, Alhaji Sani Mohammed said the APC candidate Maikai Adamu Mohammed (Adalo) Polled 52,660 while the Peoples Democratic Party candidate,Salasi Nuhu scored 28,198 votes .

However, speaking with journalists shortly after the announcement by the Chairman of KADSIECOM , Alhaji Mohammed said the election was rescheduled because ,the process was inconclusive.

According to him,” We conducted the election but , because of some of the hitches we were only able to declare results in 8 wards with 4 wards pending .

“Today we conducted elections in the four wards, where the election was inconclusive and we thank God , the process is conclusive ,thus
the results we announced today .

“The total votes announced were addition of the previous election held on May 12th and that of the four wards today .”.

Meanwhile, following the earlier results of the polls that the All Progressive Congress,( APC) candidate emerged winner in the re-run local government elections, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, condemned those behind the announcement of fake results.
