Weeldrop Petroleum expands Ibadan operations with Jericho outlet

Weeldrop Petroleum fuel station commissioned in Jericho area of Ibadan

Weeldrop Petroleum has commissioned a new fuel station in Jericho, Ibadan, further expanding its retail presence in Oyo State’s capital and reinforcing its growing footprint across the city.

The outlet, opened on Tuesday, is located beside the Federal College of Forestry in Jericho and becomes the latest addition to the company’s network of service stations spread across key commercial and residential districts in Ibadan. The development reflects the steady expansion of Weeldrop Petroleum within the city’s downstream petroleum market.

With the Jericho outlet now operational, the company operates multiple stations across Ibadan, including locations in Bodija, Orita Challenge, Agodi, Oremeji, Ashi, Akobo, Olaogun, Brewery Junction and Jemibewon Road, among others. The distribution of outlets places the company within reach of major traffic corridors and densely populated neighbourhoods.

The newly commissioned station features modern fuel dispensing infrastructure, a vehicle service and auto-care section, as well as an attached supermarket offering basic groceries and household essentials. The combination is intended to serve motorists and nearby residents seeking convenience alongside routine fuel purchases.

Speaking at the commissioning, the company’s chairman, Mr Wale Oladiti, said the decision to establish a station in Jericho followed sustained demand from residents and commuters in the area. He noted that the outlet was developed on land acquired through government channels and forms part of the company’s broader expansion strategy within Ibadan.

Oladiti said the company aims to maintain pricing that reflects prevailing market conditions while ensuring accurate dispensing standards. He referenced current pump prices at the company’s stations, including petrol retailing below some market benchmarks, alongside diesel and liquefied petroleum gas sold at rates aligned with ongoing supply dynamics.

Industry observers note that Ibadan has seen increased competition among independent petroleum marketers in recent years, driven by rising urban population, traffic growth and changing fuel supply structures. The opening of additional outlets such as the Jericho station is expected to contribute to improved access and distribution within the city.

The Jericho commissioning adds to a series of incremental expansions by Weeldrop Petroleum, as independent marketers continue to reposition within Nigeria’s evolving downstream sector.
