In a statement made available to The Guardian yesterday, a member of the Giwa faction of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board, Effiong Johnson, expressed confidence that Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, would “uphold the rule of law following his plea for both factions of the NFF to maintain peace as he is currently studying the petition brought before him over the leadership crises.”
Johnson opined that there was never a time the minister handed down a warning to their board, saying there was no reason for such warning as they had always been law abiding group.
‘’We are a board that does not play with the rule of law and peace, which was the reason why we wrote to the minister and gave him a notice of resumption, backed up with all relevant documents that legitimately empowered us to go claim our mandate,” he said.
The Akwa Ibom State FA Chairman, who doubles as the faction’s Chairman of Chairmen, added, “we are very surprised that some persons are just trying to weep sentiment and capitalize on what was never said by the Minister.
“If we are not law abiding we will not send a notice of our resumption to the honorable minister well on time”.
