YOUTHS in Isokoland have implored the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) to fulfil its obligations to them and the area through empowerment programmes and projects.
Their demand was made in an ultimatum contained in an open letter to the agency through the commissioner representing the Isoko Ethnic Nationality, copies of which were sent to federal, state and local council officials including President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as security agencies.
They, under the aegis of Isoko Progressive Youth Centre (IPYC), affirmed that as a recognized (registered) body, no empowerment incentives and palliatives were provided for them and the area, even during Christmas as a show of goodwill.
Therefore, the youths whose stance was articulated in the letter by Comrade Anthony Ogbalor (National Leader/President-General) and Comrade Clifford Ojah (National Secretary General), warned that neglect and marginalization of the Isoko people could lead to breakdown of law and order.
