Rivers cult clash claims one, gang threatens to kill 50

Amaechi-CopyONE person was reported dead yesterday when two rival cult groups clash in a supremacy battle at Ubima, the hometown of Minister of Transport, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

This comes on the heels of a threat from another gang to kill no fewer than 50 persons before next month.
In the past six months, Ubima Community in Ikwere Local Council of Rivera State has been in the news for the bad reason as its residents have been living in fear following activities of dreaded cult groups (Degbam and Iceland).

More than 10 suspected cultists have lost their lives to the ceaseless fracas between the groups.
It was gathered that the victim, whose name was simply given as Onyekeozuru, a.k.a Juju, was killed because of “anti-cult activities” as he reported left Degbam for the rival.

A reliable source told The Guardian said the deceased’s intransigence led to his death.
“At the point he left Degbam to Iceland, he does not have the power to enter Degbam territory, but he was still coming to their zone with the excuse that he was coming to the area to greet his in-law. They gave him another warning three days ago before they killed him,” he said.
