Ogilvy sets up shop in Nigeria, brings global advertising standards

Good news may be in the offing for Nigerian business sector as world renowned advertising, marketing and public relations agency, Ogilvy, in partnership with Algorithm Media and Media.com, is set to begin operations, with the promise of impacting positively on the sector from its vast and reliable experience. This was made known at a pre-launch press conference last Thursday in Lagos.

Now in its 70 years of existence, Ogilvy is a New York City-based agency that engages in integrated network that creates experiences, design and communications for brands, advertising, customer engagement and commerce, brand strategy, digital information, PR and influence and partnerships. The multiple award-winning agency is part of the WPP Group, which is by revenue one of the largest marketing and communications companies in the world and has 188 offices in 83 countries.

While speaking at the briefing, Mr. Seni Adetu, Group Chief Executive, Ogilvy Nigeria, and CEO, Algorithm Media Limited, expressed happiness at partnering with the agency as he believes that the idea would be beneficial not only to the advertising industry but to the clients as well.

Adetu also gave his assurance to Nigerians that the agency would create marketing solutions to economic problems by attracting multi-national clients to do business in Nigeria, adding, “My assurance to Nigeria is that we are not just a creative or an advertising agency. Similarly, CEO Oglivy EMEA, Mr. Paul O’Donnell, disclosed the reason for establishing Oglivy in Nigeria.“In today’s era of restructuring, marketing digitalization, thriving entrepreneurship and branding overhauling, with Nigeria having a large chunk of successful entrepreneurs who are renowned beyond the shores of the country, we believed it was high time we came down to Nigeria to improve the promotional strategies of these young entrepreneurs and also uplift to global standards those of already-established companies.

Also, CEO, Oglivy Africa, Mathieu Plassard, stated that the agency has been operation in Africa for 50 years and the establishment of its office in Lagos would be the 21st in West Africa.
