DISSATISFIED by the recent ruling of the Court of Appeal, Benin City, Edo State which upheld the election of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard bearer in the April 11, 2015 gubernatorial polls, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor and his party are to contest the judgment at the Supreme Court.

The State APC Chairman, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, who gave the hint in a statement said: “We are law-abiding citizens, but we received this judgment of the Appeal Court with shock. We will not abdicate our right to fair hearing as we are convinced we will find justice at the Supreme Court based on the merit of our arguments in the case in question. We stand by our desire for a new Delta State led by APC where every Deltan will begin to live with a new sense of purpose and direction. A new Delta filled with hope for the future driven by the power of positive change.”

According to him the matter before the appellant court was direct and explicit, adding that the judgment given was “a travesty of justice.”

Erue, however advised party members and teeming supporters in the to remain calm and resolute in their belief for a “new Delta State that would be ushered in by an APC government that is well primed to bring positive change and progress to our dear state.”

He stressed that the matter would be pursued with vigour and “will hopefully be brought to a legal conclusion in favour of the APC by God’s grace.”

Erue added: “APC will not allow this case to be run over by the many vested and institutional interests that have been working hard, day and night, to turn justice on its head while denying Deltans their desire for people-oriented governance that has eluded them for so many years.”

They party chair accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government of wastage.

“For instance, it has aggregated an over-bloated cabinet with hundreds of needless idle aides in both the executive and legislative arms that will drag the economy of the state down to a dangerous precipice at this critical period of dwindling resources,” he alleged.

Erue added: “Every Deltan is entitled to know about the wastages that have continued to plague every PDP administration in Delta State, but there is hope for a new Delta and all Deltans, irrespective of their individual persuasions, should continue to keep hope alive.”
