The Imo State Government has commenced biometric data registration for teaching and non-teaching staff of all state-run schools in the 27 Local Councils.

In a statement issued at the weekend by the Executive Chairman of the Schools Management Board, Mrs. Getrude Oduka, the state said the registration commenced yesterday (January 11) through February 29.

The Guardian gathered that the exercise is aimed to “discovered unqualified and ghost teachers, among others, within the school system and ensure that only well trained and qualified teachers were engaged to teach pupils and students.
