Dr Adetunji Oredipe, the Task Team Leader of the World Bank-funded Fadama III-Additional Financing (AF), says Plateau Government is yet to join the league of core states under programme.

Oredipe, who addressed farmers during the programme’s supervision mission to the state on Friday in Jos, advised the farmers to work hard to meet the status of core state.

According to him, the six core states are Kogi, Lagos, Kano, Niger, Anambra and Enugu.

“There is opportunity for you to join the core states if we identify your interest,’’ he said.

He, however, said that an official would soon be appointed to take charge of non-core states.

Earlier, Mr Gideon Dandan, the state coordinator of farmers, thanked the team for the visit and promised that farmers in the state would abide by the advice of the team.

“We are ready for correction and promise to improve with the team guidance,’’ Dandan said.

Also, Mr Haula Mutla, Manager, Fadama Farmers Microfinance Bank, expressed the bank’s willingness to assist the farmers to boost production and reduce poverty.
