The International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos, has condemned the visit by two policemen, led by ASP Aminu Tanko, allegedly from the State Investigation Bureau, Sokoto, to venue of a two-day media workshop on elections for journalists in Sokoto yesterday.

According to sources, the policemen, who came to the venue of the workshop, demanded for a copy of the programme and threatened that the workshop could be stopped if the issues of discuss at the media workshop were found to be of security concerns.

The IPC says it is miffed that this kind of unwarranted visit to a media workshop venue by security forces portends an intimidation of journalists. It, therefore, called on the security agencies to desist from such acts.
