The United Nation Democracy Fund (UNDEF) and Afrihealth Optoneth Association under the Sustainable Citizens’ Participation (SCP) in selected local governments in Niger Delta region have concluded plans to build an ultra-modern market and renovate the town hall in Nyangasang community, Calabar.

Nyangasang was the community some residents got electrocuted while watching football at a viewing centre.

Project Director, Green Vision for Community Development Initiative, Elder Okon Enemi said the project hopes to promote sustainable citizen participation in local governance, decision-making, development and democratic processes.

Enemi said to achieve the project’s goal and objectives, the implementing organisation organised a courtesy visit to the Head of Local Government of Calabar Municipality (HOLGA), who supported the initiative and objectives of the project, which gave birth to the town hall meeting.

The Community Consultative Committee headed by Ndabo Eno-Obong Tommy was formed and inaugurated to mobilise resources for the projects and community.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Eno-Obong said the committee is ready to make contributions to support identified needs or projects.
