Imo lawmaker empowers widows, physically-challenged

THE lawmaker representing Njaba in the Imo State House of Assembly, Ambassador Uju Onwudiwe, at the weekend empowered over 200 indigent widows, physically-challenged persons and youths drawn from the 20 communities in the constituency.

He distributed 12 motorcycles, clothing materials, food stuffs and cash gifts to enable them start their own businesses and be useful to themselves and the society.

Onwudiwe, who was elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), used the occasion to mark his 44th birthday.

The event commenced with a thanksgiving mass at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Okwudor, Njaba, while the Central School, Okwudor, hosted the distribution of the items to the beneficiaries.

Onwudiwe said she was happy to give back to the communities, expressing happiness that her covenant with God to assist the indigent widows, youths and physically-challenged had been fulfilled.

“Today is really one of my happiest days. I am fulfilled and inspired. I am ready to sustain it as long as God keeps blessing me.”
