The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Overflowing Mega Parish, Fagba Area, Iju-Ishaga, Lagos Province 14, on January 20 issued certificates of attendance and participation to 74 parishioners and non-parishioners that attended its skills acquisition programme.

Tagged, Skill-Up Entrepreneurship Training and Competition Programme, participants acquired vocational skills in fashion designing, beads making, make-up and gele, and catering, as well as website designing.

Admonishing participants, Pastor-in-charge of Provincial 14, Jide Akiode, said the programme is an opportunity that must not been thrown away and called on graduands to embrace diligence, hard work and excellence, as a way of life to go far in life.

He said: “Vision and hard work are equal to success while skills without vision is useless. A man of vision doesn’t fear competition, as his vision determines how hard he is to work.”

Throwing light on the project, the convener, Pastor Paul Adewunmi, said the project aims at training and empowering raw talents, Christians and non-Christians, who are ready to launch out as entrepreneurs.

“This project aims to develop the skills of participants for the period of two months, after which participants would be expected to go on two weeks project to develop works that would be perused during the grand finale of the talent hunt show. At the grand finale seven winners would emerge, while 28 others that would make it to the top would go home with complimentary prizes,” he said.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of prizes to those that excelled in the training. They are: Mrs. Martha Aligbe (fashion), Stella Akhidenor (catering) while Bunmi Ogunbaike, Omole Adedoyin, Bunmi Samuel, Akomolafe Bosede, Ogundare Omoyemi, Modupe Folaranmi, Eniola Oladehinde and Anjela Akhidenor got different categories of prizes in different skill.

Items given out to winners were industrial oven, new laptops, desktop and website design sewn/weaving machine, make-up box and kit, bead box.
