Vice Chancellor warns Igbinedion varsity students against cultism

Igbinedion-University-OkadaVICE CHANCELLOR, Igbinedion University, Rev. Professor Eghosa Osaghae has charged matriculating students of the institution to shun cult activities and always remain law-abiding and committed to their studies to be able to make the best of the opportunities presented by their admission into the university.

Delivering his welcome address during the recent 17th matriculation ceremony held at the 2000 capacity university auditorium, Osaghae congratulated the nearly matriculating students on their selection out of the several thousands that applied for admission in the seven colleges of the university.

.Professor Osaghae noted that Igbinedion University has a zero tolerance for cultism and therefore, urged the matriculating students to shun cultism and all forms of vices so as to be able to accomplish the goal for which they sought and gained admission into the university.

He said, Igbinedion University, as one of Nigeria’s leading private universities, has provided opportunities for many students to excel in many areas of life which has continued to make the university stand out in the comity of private universities.

He added that the university has a robust entrepreneurship centre which affords students the opportunity to acquire different skills outside their field of academic pursuit and which further equips its graduates for challenges after graduation.
The vice chancellor also announced that the University has just been approved by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) as a training centre for Medical House Officers-the first private university to gain such recognition in West Africa.

Osaghae also used the opportunity of the matriculation ceremony to recognize and honour the university’s contingent to the December 2015 All Nigeria Private Universities Games (NPUGA) which took place at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti , where Igbinedion University emerged third out of the 26 private universities that took part in the games.

Igbinedion University won a total of seven gold, six silver and 16 bronze medals.
