Traders and motorists in Ibadan, Oyo State, have criticised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for not respecting Nigerians, hence the nonchalant attitude in its engagement with citizens.
A major roadside shoemaker at Agodi Gate, Moses Ibukun said without any apologies, INEC has dragged the faces of Nigerians in the mud and does not deserve another chance to serve the people.
“I am discouraged and not sure I can come to vote next week.”
On her part, Dolapo Lere, a frozen food storeowner, said the rescheduling has ruined her sales plans for the weekend. Lere said she had to hurry to the big market to get new stocks so she won’t sit idle yesterday. “I am disappointed and at the same time happy that I could come out and make some sales yesterday”.
A tricycle driver, Saidi Lasisi said he is bothered that the people in government do not care to carry along citizens on important issues of governance such as elections.
Laisisi said INEC’s action does not speak well of Nigeria’s prestige as Africa’s giant.
