Following the victory recorded by the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) at the Federal High Court, Abuja recognizing it as a political party in the country, its national chairman, Alhaji Balarabe Musa has said that the party was set to embark on grass root mobilization and expansion of membership base.
Musa explained that the aim of the mobilization drive was to fight for the legitimate rights of Nigerians under the current political dispensation.
Besides, he said that the party’s victory at the court indicated that PRP was not only a relevant political party in Nigeria but has vindicated him in the fight for the emancipation of talakawas and other Nigerians.
In a statement issued in Kaduna, the PRP national chairman said, “it is a victory for all Nigerians who believe in the rule of law, in constitutionalism, the civil liberties of the citizenry and the just and progressive democratic development of Nigeria”.
Musa remarked that “as for PRP members, supporters and sympathizers across the country, my message is simply, buckle up for the urgent struggles ahead”, pointing out that “plans are at advanced stage towards the rejuvenation of party organs and the expansion of our membership base across Nigeria”.
“All these new measures will be publicly unfolded very soon. Our struggle we are committed to waging by all lawful means, whether through electoral activities or otherwise, and in whatever circumstance we find ourselves”, he added.
Musa said: “since the 1983 national elections, when the NPN was declared the winner in so-called landslide victory, the PRP realized that there would be no free and fair election leading to a legitimate government at any level in Nigeria for a long time to come and, therefore, resolved to transform itself into both a political movement and an electoral party”.
