The Supreme Court’s example

court.jpg-citynewsSIR: The recent judgments of the Supreme Court are instructive – ensuring that justice is not delayed unlike in the past where some political cases lingered on at the apex court for many months. In other words, the Supreme Court now dispenses with cases without delay to allow the winners settle down to the business of governance as the case may be.

The judiciary should go further by insisting that lawyers do not waste the time of the courts seeking unwholesome adjournments, which would impact negatively on litigants.

In the past, some cases in the Supreme Court lasted until the end of tenure of some elected politicians. But the current reality is that Nigerians are being made to believe that justice is not being denied ordinary people again. This development should be emulated by other courts down the line to ensure quick dispensation of justice to whoever approaches the court for relief.
