
The Commissioners for Works and Infrastructure, Greg Nnaji, disclosed after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting that the projects approved were roads and public buildings.
He addressed the press with his Information counterpart, Ogbuagu Anikwe; and that of Gender Affairs and Social Development, Princess Peace Nnaji.
The works commissioner specifically said that the meeting approved the construction of phase one (Block A) of the zonal secretariat, Nsukka satellite town, at the cost of N418,649,187.13 to enhance efficiency in the system.
Also approved for rehabilitation were the Old UNTH/Bunker road, Ngenevu/Old UNTH link road and the erosion control works at Okwuosa Street in Ogui New Layout.
The commissioner for gender affairs and social development applauded Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his magnanimity towards the downtrodden and vulnerable.
Anikwe, on his part, said the council gave 48 teachers, who did not turn up during the verification exercise, one more chance to show up between now and end of the month to get verified, after explaining theor non-participation earlier, among other conditions.
