Jonathan’s supporters woo Benin chiefs

TAN lauds President, Army over success on insurgency

TO boost his chances at the polls, supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday took the campaign to Benin palace chiefs, who they believe have much influence on voters in their domain.

   Coordinator of Goodluck Jonathan campaign in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu while addressing Benin Palace Chiefs at the Holy Arosa Church, Benin City, said they came on the instruction of President Jonathan, adding that one of the reasons Jonathan is contesting was because the Oba of Benin told him to do so and he cannot afford to disobey the Oba.

   Ize-Iyamu said Jonathan has done well and deserved a second term to complete the good work he has started not just in Edo State but elsewhere.

   Responding on behalf of others, Chief Sunny Omoregbe, the Osafuoba of Benin said since President Jonathan has recognised their importance, they would do the needful when the time comes.

   Meanwhile, the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) has commended President Jonathan, the Nigerian Army, as well as other multinational forces for a successful routing of Boko Haram terrorists in the North East region of the country.

   Addressing journalists at the weekend in Awka, the leader of TAN, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, said it was very cheering that the nation’s soldiers did not disappoint the high confidence President Jonathan reposed in them over the issue.

   He believed that Jonathan’s commendable visit to the troops at Mubi and Vintim in Adamawa State, as well as Baga in Borno, recaptured by Nigerian soldiers from the insurgents would boost the morale of the soldiers immensely.
