Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade has asked his commissioners and other principal office holders to prepare their handover notes in preparation for dissolution of his four year-old cabinet.
A statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Senior Special Assistant Media, Christian Ita, yesterday confirmed the cabinet shake-up saying Ayade will in the process reduce the size of his cabinet ahead of his second term inauguration on May 29, 2019.
“Governor Ayade will run a smaller and tighter cabinet in his second term in office to engender a more focused administration for better service delivery in the state,” the statement reads.
It is added that Ayade in his four years maintained a cabinet of about 30 commissioners and over 1,000 special advisers and assistants, some of who received salaries regularly, yet had no offices or designated functions.
