The Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum on Friday (7/4) again held an Iftar activity with the Indonesian community and students in Sudan, as well as commemorating the Nuzulul-Quran which coincided with the night of 17 Ramadan 1444 H at Wisma Duta.​

This time the Nuzululquran commemoration was not only attended by the public, Indonesian students and professional workers, but also Sudanese people and scholars who are alumni of Indonesian universities and friends of Indonesia (Friends of Indonesia).

The activity began with the khataman of the Al-Quran 30 juz which started in the afternoon until before breaking the fast led by Ust. M. Hibatullah Zein, graduate student of Al-Quran Al-Karim University and Islamic Sciences, Omdurman.

A variety of Indonesian traditional snacks such as green bananas, bakwan and molen bananas, as well as various traditional drinks are served as the menu for breaking the fast this time.

After the Maghrib prayer, the attendees also enjoyed dinner with Indonesian specialties, including fried noodles, green chili chicken and lodeh vegetables, presenting Indonesian flavors as a medicine for homesickness.

The Isha and Tarawih prayers were even more enthusiastic and solemn following the strains of Ust's golden voice. Hibatullah Zein as priest.

Ambassador Sunarko in his remarks emphasized the importance of taking advantage of the special momentum of commemorating Nuzululquran 1444 H to implement the social values of the Koran in social life for all Indonesian citizens in Sudan.

“Among the principles and values of social life taught in the Koran that we need to absorb and practice in our social life and even in establishing relations and cooperation between countries are Ta'aruf (knowing each other), Tafahum (mutual understanding) and Ta'awun (cooperating with each other)”, said Ambassador Sunarko.

Meanwhile, St. Althof Madani, also a postgraduate student at Al-Quran Al-Karim University and Islamic Sciences, Omdurman in his speech explained the wisdom of the nuzulul-quran, especially the role of the Al-Quran as a guide and reference in every aspect of human life.

A series of activities for the month of Ramadan are carried out by the Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum as an effort to foster Indonesian society to strengthen harmony, brotherhood and a spirit of unity for the Indonesian people in Sudan.
