Today, the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Nakhumicha S. Wafula, hosted a group of elected leaders from the Nyanza region to discuss critical health-related issues. During the courtesy call, the leaders discussed equipping health facilities, providing technical and personnel support, and delivering quality healthcare to locals.

Cabinet Secretary for ICT, Eliud Owalo, led the group and reaffirmed their support to the national government’s agenda on health. Dr. Nakhumicha urged the legislators to use their positions in Parliament to advocate for favorable laws that would enhance healthcare in Kenya.

Additionally, the Cabinet Secretary implored the leaders to encourage their constituents to enroll in NHIF to access healthcare without financial concerns. The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of ICT are partnering to leverage technology and offer quality healthcare to rural areas.

Present during the meeting were Acting Director General, Dr. Patrick Amoth, and CEO of KMTC, Dr. Kelly Oluoch. The leaders’ meeting highlighted the government’s commitment to improve the health sector in Kenya and ensure every citizen has access to quality healthcare.

This critical meeting is one of the many steps towards achieving the country’s Universal Health Coverage goal.
