It was an epic day of warm feelings, gratitude and commendations on Thursday in Lagos as the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Akin Dare, paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, makers of Peak milk and Official Brand Sponsors of the Nigerian Para Powerlifting Federation.

On hand to welcome the Minister and his entourage to the premises of the  diaries manufacturing giant, was the top management of the company led by the Managing Director, Mr. Ben Langat.

Langat while thanking the Minister for his visit, reinterated the company’s support to the Nigeria Para-Powerlifting Federation and clearly explained FrieslandCampina WAMCO’s purpose as a company to reach for peak goals by enhancing capacity with the belief that every Nigerian has the right to reach for their peak.

“By empowering our Unstoppable Para-powerlifters, the Peak brand is enabling Nigerians to reach for their peak. We designed the ‘Unstoppable Campaign’ to tell the story of this remarkable set of people who have continued to break new grounds in spite of their physical limitations. Peak has touched the lives of many Nigerians with this campaign. It has become so powerful and is receiving very positive testimonials from all stakeholders,” Langat said.

Peak Milk also used the occasion to reward three distinguished winners of its recent Unstoppable Humans of Change campaign.

Elated by Peak’s massive support for sports development and excellence especially with the Nigerian Para Powerlifting team, the Sports Minister, Chief Dare, who took time off the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba to keep a date with the company, commended Peak as a top brand in the annals of sports sponsorship in Nigeria.

“This giant stride of sponsorship investment in Nigerian sports with improved support to the Nigerian Para Powerlifting Federation and the Nigeria Football Federation is worthy of note, highly commendable and cannot be over emphasized, you have been a front burner in encouraging our sports men and women to do their utmost best to reach their peak,” Dare said.

The Para Powerlifting Team led by the President of the federation, Chiemeka Charles Ezenwame and the captain of the para powerlifting team, Folasade Oluwafemiayo graced the occasion with other board members and athletes.

In February 2019 as part of its brand support for the para-powerlifters, Peak Milk donated an International Paralympic Committee-approved mobility bus seating 12 people and 15 wheel chairs. The bus which was recently refurbished is equipped with automated lifts and other features to ensure convenience and the safety of athletes.

Also in 2018, Peak Milk renovated the powerlifting gym at the National Stadium, Lagos and provided world class training equipment with full wheel chair accessibility. The brand also donated 15 sport wheel chairs to the athletes and sponsored the para-powerlifters to the 9th Fazza Championship in Dubai, UAE in 2018, where they won four gold medals.

The athletes have been constantly nourished with monthly supplies of Peak Milk since December 2016 till date.
