On Friday, March 3, 2023, in response to an invitation from AU-IBAR, the Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW) visited their premises. Prof. James Wabacha (representing AU-IBAR) awarded Josphat Ngonyo ANAW with an award of gratitude for the priceless relationship between ANAW and AU-IBAR that has lasted over a decade.

ANAW has cooperated with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), AU-IBAR, and the host country's government to organise the Africa Animal Welfare Conference (AAWC). The AAWC is an annual conference co-hosted by experts and practitioners to discuss animal welfare, wildlife conservation, and environmental conservation concerns.
