Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said that the state has remained efficient, keeping afloat and the envy of other states despite the downturn in the economy, because of the outstanding output of its workforce, which is a product of training and retraining.

Speaking yesterday at the flag off of a three-day training on ISO standard, the Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Dr Akintola Benson Oke said that other than the federal government, there is no public service system that could boast of a better workforce than that of the Lagos State Government.

He further said that it was because his administration wants better delivery for citizens of the state was why the training was put together.According to him, that the state government wanted a new perspective to issues of service to the people does not mean what was being done in the past is not appreciated just that the state government wanted innovative and better ways to serve the people.

“For business and government, they are strategic tools that reduce costs by minimising waste and errors and increasing productivity. They help government to access new markets, level the playing field for developing countries and facilitate free and fair global trade.

“In this era of severe global financial constraints, there is an urgent need for government to be shrewd and methological in expending public funds. By directing it’s energy on the tripod, the Ambode administration has demonstrated that investments in certain critical public sectors could have a multiplying effect on a whole wide range of other areas.”
