THE Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) has elected Otis Oliver Tabugbo Anyaeji as its President.

Anyaeji, a renowned Engineer emerged the 30th President of NSE would be in office till 2017.

Head, Media and Publications of the Society, Abdulkadir Aliyu, in a statement in Abuja, explained that the emergence of Anyaeji followed the laid down guideline on emergence of leadership in the NSE.

He added: “In the traditional smooth succession practice of ascending the Presidency of the Society, Anyaeji stepped into office on January 1, 2016, having served as Deputy President for the past two years – 2014 and 2015. He will lead the Society as President and Chairman of Council for the tenured period of 2016 and 2017.”

At the maiden meeting with stakeholders of NSE, the new NSE helmsman expounded his vision for the Society for the period of his presidency.

Citing the dire economic situation and dismal infrastructure stock status of the country, he declared that it was time for Engineers to “take full control of the engineering activities in all sectors of the Nigerian economy”, in order to make resonating impact in the collective quest of bringing the country back on the track of progress and prosperity. He vowed to pursue that undertaking with fervour.

Anyaeji is a Mechanical Engineer by training whose vast practice experience cuts across all the spectrums of engineering. Since 1976, he has had working stints at the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN) Limited, Nigerian Airports Authority (NPA), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), amongst others. He is presently the Chairman of O. T. Otis Engineering Limited, a consulting engineering firm which was founded in 1987 and has consulted on virtually all basic industrial sectors.

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow of the Academy of Engineering and a Member of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Nigeria (ACEN).

His official Investiture as the 30th President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) is scheduled to hold January 16, 2016 in Abuja.
