
The 1985 set of the Government College of Lagos Old Boys’ Association (GCLOBA) at its recent yearly awards ceremony has rewarded three exceptional students and a dedicated class teacher.

Adeniji Morakinyo was bestowed with the title of ‘Best Teacher’ in acknowledgement of his extraordinary dedication and his talent for inspiring students.
Morakinyo, who is often referred to as ‘Asiri’, is known for his remarkable ability to demystify mathematical problems and his exceptional contributions to education.
The students include Oladejo Abdulqudus, who secured the first position with a remarkable score of 77.6; Ikpe Odido, who earned the second position with an impressive score of 76.9 and Osinachi Godswill, who clinched the third position with a score of 75.9.
GCLOBA’s Set of ‘85 Coordinator, Ohiole Akhibi, said the event was an integral part of the association’s unwavering commitment to fostering academic excellence and elevating teaching standards.
He highlighted the significance of the awards, emphasising their role in motivating students to excel academically from the very start of their educational journey.
He underscored how the awards not only inspire positive behaviours and healthy competition but also propel academic excellence among the student body.
Chairman of the Academic Performance Development Committee, Osagie Odiase, who was represented by Steve Eze, said: “These awards serve as a reminder of the importance of education and the boundless potential for growth and achievement.
