Babatunde becomes chairman of ICSAN Lagos

Adebola Babatunde has emerged as the new Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Lagos State chapter.

He was elected among other executives during the chapter’s yearly general meeting, held over the weekend.

Others elected include Olusina Sokunbi as vice chairman; Anthony Adenubi as honorary secretary; Oderinde Adeola as financial secretary; Itohan Iroro-Afolayan as publicity secretary and Tanadeba Leesi as assistant honorary secretary.

Giving her report during the period under review, the outgoing Chairman, ICSAN, Lagos State chapter, Efosa Ewere, said from the onset, the chapter embraced a vision of transformational leadership anchored on innovation, inclusivity and steadfast commitment to corporate governance principles.

She said the chapter’s activities and programmes have been guided by leadership that inspires, experience that informs, engagement that connects, and a commitment to excellence (3Es) that drives its progress.

Ewere spoke on how the chapter embarked on strategic collaborations with other chapters and institutes, including the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), on knowledge sharing and fast-track programmes.

She expressed appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity to have served, adding that together, they have demonstrated that the strength of the institute lies in its commitment, collaboration and shared purpose.

She further extended her appreciation to the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Uto Ukpanah, for her steadfast support for the chapter’s leadership and her unwavering commitment to all its initiatives and events.

Giving the chapter’s financial performance and outlook during the period, the outgoing treasurer, Olusina Sokunbi, said there was a growth of 54.1 per cent when compared to the previous year.

He said the growth showed a strong liquidity position that ensured that the chapter could comfortably meet its obligations and fund upcoming programmes.

Going forward, he added that the chapter would continue its revenue drive initiatives, explore alternative revenue streams and continue to strengthen its financial performance.

In his remarks, the new chairman, Babatunde, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to build on the progress achieved.

He said his leadership would focus on strengthening governance advocacy and advancing the chapter’s objectives.
