The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) has commenced the 2018, edition of procurement officers’ conversion training for cadre in parastatals, institutions, commissions and agencies of the government.

The training is aimed at increasing the knowledge and understanding of participants of the provisions of the Public Procurement Act 2007 to further build and develop capacity in the civil service, and ensure professionalism.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training recently, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, represented by Mbaeri Morris Nnamdi, a Director from the office of the SGF, said that the participation of his office underscores government’s commitment to the on-going procurement reforms.

He pointed out that part of BPP’s mandate was to ensure that only BPP-trained and certified procurement officers would henceforth be posted to function in the procurement cadre in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He noted that public procurement officers have crucial roles to play in national infrastructure development, in terms of the skills and competencies, critical in delivering a transparent and efficient public procurement system.
