Renowned cybersecurity and computer science expert Ahmed Akinsola has been conferred the Distinguished Fellowship of the Institute of Information Management (IIM) during an investiture ceremony held at Houston Christian University, Texas, USA. Recognized for his remarkable contributions to cybersecurity, data science, and machine learning, Mr. Akinsola was among only four distinguished individuals selected for this prestigious honor from hundreds of applicants this year.

The event was graced by Amb. (Dr.) Oyedokun A. Oyewole, International President and Chairman of IIM Africa, who presented the award. In his remarks, Dr. Oyewole expressed profound admiration for Mr. Akinsola’s outstanding achievements and transformative impact in the field.

“As we bestow upon you the highest distinction our institution is capable of granting, we honor your visionary leadership and steadfast commitment that have left an enduring mark on the cybersecurity discipline and society at large. Your invaluable contributions continue to elevate industry standards and inspire the next generation of professionals.”

Dr. Oyewole further emphasized the rigorous selection process, noting that the chosen fellows were carefully identified for their unparalleled expertise and lasting contributions to their respective fields.

“We received numerous applications, but only a select few were deemed worthy of this high honour. Through extensive research, we identified individuals who have truly distinguished themselves and merited this conferment,” he added.

Mr. Akinsola has built an impressive career at the forefront of cybersecurity, threat intelligence, and enterprise security. As a Security Operations Center Engineer at Deloitte Global Technology, he plays a pivotal role in identifying and mitigating cybersecurity threats, securing critical data, and fortifying global security frameworks.

His expertise in proactive threat detection and incident response has significantly contributed to enhancing national and international cybersecurity resilience, a pressing concern in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

His previous leadership roles at Plexity Technology, Dellam Multi Concepts, and Medifix Limited further highlight his breadth of experience in enterprise security, cloud computing, and regulatory compliance. Through his leadership, he has successfully enhanced data protection measures, improved compliance with industry regulations such as HIPAA and ISO 27001, and minimized security vulnerabilities through state-of-the-art cybersecurity frameworks.

Speaking after receiving the fellowship award, Mr. Akinsola expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a dream come true and a milestone achievement in his career.

“By virtue of my conferment as a Fellow of the Institute of Information Management, I have reached the apex of my cybersecurity profession. As a Fellow of multiple prestigious organizations, including the National Institution of Professional Engineers and Scientists (NIPES), the International Organization for Academic and Scientific Development (IOASD), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Mr. Akinsola continues to cement his legacy as a leader and innovator in the cybersecurity landscape.

Dr. Oyewole also challenged the newly inducted fellows to take on the responsibility of training and mentoring young professionals in the fields of computer science, engineering, and information management.
