Edojobs, recruitment firms parley to tackle unemployment

The Edo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs) in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ)’s Skills Development for Youth Employment (SKYE) programme has hosted experts to coach job seekers on how to surmount the hurdles of the labour market.
 
The summit, held virtually, featured opportunities for job seekers to engage with recruiters with a chance of landing employment during the event.

Chief Executive Officer, Temploy Nigeria, Junyin Benson, noted that it was necessary for job seekers to identify temporary employment opportunities in the era of remote work, to develop relevant skills, gain experience and contribute to economic growth in the state.
 
Head, Youth Engagement and Learning, Jobberman, Nigeria, Precious Ajoonu reiterated the need of having standard curriculum vitae to scale the hurdles of the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), noting that such would help them in landing decent jobs.

Managing Director, EdoJobs, Ukinebo Dare, emphasised the three most-asked interview questions, which seek to test a job seeker’s competence, willingness, attitude and patience. 

She also spoke about how to skillfully answer such questions.
 
The participants were allowed to interact with employers, who were seeking to fill vacant roles and ask them questions.

There were also career insights from professionals, networking opportunities for businesses and applicants and a masterclass to help candidates improve their curriculum vitae.
