Engineers partner university, boost skill development for projects

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Victoria Island branch, has established partnership with the Lagos State University, (LASU) to support the development of engineering projects that could solve some of the societal issues in the country.

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Victoria Island branch, has established partnership with the Lagos State University, (LASU) to support the development of engineering projects that could solve some of the societal issues in the country.

Through the initiative, the branch is to provide funding support of about N500, 000 for engineering solutions.The new executives of the branch, led by its chairman, John Audu, made the pledge during a visit to the faculty of engineering, Epe campus of University in Lagos.
  
The Chairman who made the donation of N500, 000 towards engineering projects from the students on behalf of the branch explained that association chose LASU because it’s in their catchment area.
   
He lauded the University for showing kin interest in the plans and aspirations of the Society adding that the initiative was part of programmes to mark its yearly engineering Week.
   
Audu reiterated the commitment and plans of its members to partner with Faculty and identify Engineering projects that can solve current societal problems. He said they are prepared to raise funds to support any problem solving projects from the school.

“The initiative is part of the four key strategic initiatives to actualise ideals of pervasive innovation, human capacity development.” Serve our society and enhance welfare”, he said.
  
The Dean Faculty of Engineering, LASU, Prof. Elkanah Oyetunji who received the association on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, appreciated the engineers, for choosing the University as their worthy partner with the aim of promoting engineering projects that will solve societal problems.He assured them of a partnership that will be productive and long lasting with benefits for Nigerians and the varsity’s communities.
  
Those present during the visit include, staff and students of the Faculty of Engineering were of the institution.
