Human Resource professionals have been charged to deploy strategic methods in discharging their duties of possessing unique qualifications using technology and cultural changes in dealing with employee talent and dynamism.

The Human Resource persons were also urged to develop flexi-working module that has minimal disruption on the policies and objectives of organisations. Speaking at a Human Resource academy training organised by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Nigeria, Partner, Head of Consulting, Cyril Azobu, said HR practitioners were strategic planners who shape policies in organisations by combining the evolution of business strategies in tandem with their owners.

Azobu said there was a new way of doing things when it comes to dealing with human capital, adding that employers need to listen to employees to do things accordingly.

“Today’s business world requires nimbleness where employees call the shot when the right minds are employed,” he added. He said there would be a redefinition of skills if the economy was stable and organisations recruit right minds with talented employees. He said the firm is changing its value to meet with the system of operations in today’s world increasing the level of HR practices in the country.

Associate Director, People and Organisation, Olusola Adewole said: “HR people around the world are notoriously bad at sharing best practices in terms of information because they see that attitude as their job security. New professionals don’t act like that. New professionals share and try to improve globally”.

He added that as HR practitioners, understanding flexibility helps drive productivity, pointing out that it becomes a hard business discipline at the centre of a highly influential metric driven strategy and performance management.
