
According to him, “as the language of business and guiding light of both the private and public sectors, we must do all we can not only to bring accountancy to the forefront but also continuously improve its contributions to entrepreneurship and promotion of the public interest.”
Speaking further, he stated that, “for over fifty years, the institute membership has grown from a paltry figure of 250 members to 39,664 following today’s induction of these newly admitted members. This is a clear demonstration of our institutes enduring commitment to producing highly trained chattered accountants’ sufficiently knowledgeable in the art of accountancy and its related disciplines.”
In her keynote address, the special guest of honour, Princess Agnes Adeniran urged members to imbibe the virtue of integrity at all time. Adeniran, a former President of the institute noted that “integrity is an intangible asset that you must hold dearly and espouse no matter the situation. Lending credence to the stewardship reports of persons in fiduciary positions is a sacred public duty that must be discharged without fear favour or subjectivity.”
Speaking further, she also noted that in preparation of financial statement, members “must consistently apply approved corporate policies and relevant standards to the treatment of accounting transactions.
