EntrepreneurThe Institute of Empowerment and Strategy (IES) is hoping to train and empower about three million Nigerians through various economic activities it hopes to execute within the next two years.

To achieve this target, the Institute said it has undertaken to conduct a National Empowerment Registration in Nigeria, a registration exercise expected to generate reliable statistical data that which would aid economic planning at federal and state levels.

Director-General of the Institute, Dr. Boniface Afiafia-Oru, told newsmen in Abuja that the National Empowerment Registration would be an automated demographic registration process.

His words: “The Institute of Empowerment and Strategy is an international organization established to intervene in the economic development and empowerment of Nigerians.  The Institute is on a rescue mission to complement the efforts of the Federal Government to change the tide of impoverishment to empowerment, joblessness to wealth creation, unequal status to strategic position.

While we hail Nigeria’s emergence as the biggest economy in Africa with the yearly growth rate of 7.6% as well as becoming the 26th largest growing economy in the world, these feats have not brought any significant change in the lives of Nigerians in terms of an increase in the per capital income.

“This is where the Institute wishes to step in to fulfill one of the objects of its establishment as enshrined in the memo and articles of association”.

He added: “The full implementation of these programs will no doubt create over two million direct jobs which will make a significant impact on the growth of the economy, as well as empowering three million Nigerian entrepreneurs in their various economic activities within the next 24 months.”

His words: “The purpose of the project is to obtain and store electronically a comprehensive verifiable date of Nigerians desiring economic empowerment and emancipation in all areas of discipline, especially the unemployed, or underemployed persons an all those involved or wish to be involved in any economic activity whether in the productive sector or in the distributive trade and commence or industrial and social sectors.

“The registration will form the data case for our strategic economic planning and empowerment, a baseline towards achieving our goal of creating 2 million direct jobs and empowerment of three million small businesses in Nigeria. Anybody desiring to receive any form of economic empowerment through our programs must first register in our national empowerment registration, This will give us proper idea of the people we are called to serve in all the states and local governments in Nigeria.”
