ITF graduate 300 youths in trade areas

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has trained and graduated 300 youth in different trade areas to breed new generation of entrepreneurs under its National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP).

The trade areas include catering and event management, tiling and aluminium fabrication.  

The Lagos zone of the NISDP commenced the 7th phase of a three months training of youths in August 2018 and has since concluded the training in catering and events management, tiling and plaster of Paris, aluminium fabrication.

At the graduation and closing ceremony of the 2018 NISDP in Lagos, the Lagos State Governor represented by Tola Ajimuda, Establishment and Training stated that as a means of reducing unemployment in the country the need for skills acquisition would further strengthen the economy and breed new entrepreneurs that will change the economic landscape of the country.

He said: “Within the last two years, ITF through the NISDP and other skills acquisition programmes equipped over 450, 000 Nigerian youths nationwide and over 3,100 youths from Lagos state with skills employability and entrepreneurship .

While speaking at the event the Training Manager, Industrial Skills Training Centre (ISTC) Ikeja, Mr Kolawole Samson noted, “one thing that stands clear is the fact that no nation can grow socially, politically or even economically without adequate and functional human resource which the agency have done.”

The ITF is a federal Government Agency responsible for developing indigenous human resources and has since keyed into the Federal Government’s policy on job and a wealth a creation, inclusive growth and sustainable development.
