Lagos, CIPM collaborate on human resource management
As part of efforts to sustain human resource management reforms in its public service, the Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), organised a professional training that focused on professionalization and certification of administrative and human resource officers.
Speaking at the event last week, CIPM Registrar, Sunday Adeyemi, while acknowledging Lagos government’s consistent and focused approach to people’s management, expressed the institute’s readiness to collaborate in deepening the competences of its work force and create an ambience for the full professionalism of human resource management across the tiers of the State Public Service.
Adeyemi, while charging the participants to remain steadfast and focused, said they had taken a great decision by being civil servants, “thus, the need to enhance your careers and self-esteem. Not that alone, your participation would facilitate membership process with the Institute and thus create a pool of human resource management professionals in the Lagos State Public Service”.
Director-General, Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, explained that the programme was designed as part of government’s resolve to institutionalised professionalism in the management function of the public service.
According to Fabamwo, government’s effort to professionalise public servants and administration process are to ensure a holistic public sector reforms embarked upon in collaboration the State Partnership for Accountability, Responsiveness and Capability (SPARC).
