Amidst rising unemployment, dwindling economy and high population growth, Nigeria is set to require a new crop of 50 million young entrepreneurs with the mind-set, paradigm and capacity to meet the market demand of over seven million people added to its population yearly.

According to the founder of Ubong King Foundation, Ubong Thompson King, Nigeria is in desperate time and in need of creative thinking young people with innovations that could help it triumph over the present socio-economic problems.

This, he noted, the foundation targets to achieve through its “Thinkation 2019” scheduled to hold on January 19, 2019 in Lagos.

Speaking at a press conference recently in Lagos, he added that the talent development programme would champion an era of productive thinkers and ruthless executors in Africa.

The conference in its second edition, tagged, ‘Thinkation 2019: Out of the box’, would attract great speakers from all walks of life to tutor the youths on new perspectives and innovations to tackle Nigeria’s socio-economic problems, and meet the production demands of its growing population.

Some of the speakers expected are the High Commissioner of Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Wendell Vincent Carlton De Landro; American actress, writer and empowerment speaker, Sheri Riley; member of the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s Global Agenda Council and Founder CWG Plc, Austin Okere; Nigerian celebrities Timi Dakolo, and Richard Mofe Damijo amongst others.

The convener reiterated that Nigerian ever-increasing population is a wake-up call to the youths to decide early enough in life.

“Nigeria has a critical mass of young people that can drive this change, and Thinkation is here to find them, inspire them, nurture and deploy them while providing requisite mentorship through the Ubong King Foundation Mentoring Platform, which has over 3.000 mentees already.

“Nigeria is overpopulated and it is not too good for her economy. 20,210 children were reportedly given birth to on January 1st, 2018; this leaves a potential addition of 7,376,650 children added to our struggling large population. Nigeria is in desperate times, and in desperate times, people need perspectives more than anything else. Perspective brings exposure, exposure leads to critical thinking and critical thinking yields new ideas, innovation, decisions and opportunities”

“We are at that point where emphasis must be placed on talent development, skill honing, ideation and innovation to solve our economic demands as a people and a country. This is what Thinkation is all about,” he added.
