IN its bid to promote productivity consciousness in the country, the National Productivity Centre (NPC) has concluded plans to establish productivity desks in all government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the country.

This was disclosed by the Director General of the NPC, Kashim Akor in Abuja on the occasion of his investiture as a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration.

He hinted that the Centre is undergoing a structural transformation for effective service delivery in line with the change Agenda of the present administration.

He stated that the National Productivity Centre as the apex agency for productivity promotion in Nigeria is poised to effectively sensitize the citizenry to the strategic place of productivity in national development.

To do the effectively, he hinted that the Centre is putting in place a new strategic plan for inward evaluation and critical analysis of its programmes to ensure that there is no disconnect between the Centre’s activities and the various sectors of economy.

His words: “The Centre plans to introduce productivity units in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to serve as productivity ambassadors in the various organizations. In this regards, a committe has been inaugurated to work out the implementation details of the initiative.”

He also revealed that a productivity data bank of the Centre will be re-organized and brought up to date to guide investment decisions and policy planning.

Akor also highlighted that the moribund State Productivity Committees will be reactivated as they serve as effective links to the grassroots.

Earlier in his address, the Registrar of the Institute, Prof Chris Onalo, represented by a team from the Abuja office of the Institute led by Ehirim Nnamdi, said the recognition of Akor for the award of Fellowship of the Institute was based on his track record of service, accomplishments and avowed commitment to good governance.

The Institute of Credit Administration has been Nigeria’s only national body for credit management since 1992.
