NSE threatens to sanction engineers over unethical practice
Seeks new salary structure for member
The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has threatened to sanction erring members irrespective of their status in the Society.
The President of NSE, Otis Anyaeji, who disclosed this in Abuja at the Society’s special dinner for the conferment of fellowship on deserving engineers, said the dinner was conceptualized to serve as suitable platform for interaction between engineers and other professionals as well as draw the attention of policy makers.
Anyaeji stressed that the conferment of Fellow on 20 new fellows are expected to join the league of elite professionals in delivering value services to the development of the country.
He then said the conferment must not be seen as an end in itself, but a call to service, which could be withdrawn as a result of action inimical to the development of the Society.
He added: “The expectations of NSE and the larger society from our Honourable Inductees are high, with regards to strict adherence to professional codes, standards and ethics.
The NSE therefore, reserves the right to revoke and withdraw the Fellowship certificate of any member enmeshed in breaches brought to the notice of the Society. This Conferment of Fellowship must not be seen as an end in itself but an opportunity to be of greater service to the Nigerian Society of Engineers; supporting its projects and programmes and lending your voices and muscles to its quests to change the face of engineering practice.
