About 5,000 Osun youths have graduated from the second phase of the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme Technology (OYESTech II).
The initiative, backed by the Osun State Government, is in partnership with RLG Adulawo Technology City, Ilesa and Omoluabi Holdings.

The state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola at the closing ceremony of the OYESTech II training disclosed that about 10, 000 youths have been trained in various ICT skills of phone and computer repairs, assemblage of digital equipment and other electronic devices since the inception of the programme in 2012.

Represented by the Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Remi Omowaiye, Governor Aregbesola, urged the beneficiaries to optimise the skills they acquired to be better innovators.

The governor, who underscored the relevance of ICT to job creation, said the training has opened doors of opportunities to the teeming unemployed youths of Osun.

He said: “I am happy that we have continued to positively create ways for the emancipation of youths. We have also within seven Years created veritable platforms for them to create wealth through ICT, as they are now able to take responsibilities in their immediate and external societies.

“This implies that we are not only building infrastructure, we are also building human capital. We have done two phases of OYESTECH training which has had 10, 000 youths therein. No government has ever done that in the history of Nigeria.

“Let me appeal to you to use the skills garnered for self development. We will not relent in our bid to create more jobs for you and other vibrant and industrious Youths in our state.”

In his remarks, the Chairman of the RLG Adulawo Technology City, Rasaq Animashaun lauded, the state government for creating a platform for youths to be trained especially now that human endeavour is driven by technology and Innovation.

He disclosed that apart from the training acquired, OYESTech II also provided opportunities for trainees to engage in innovative works that gave birth to various technological inventions whose materials are sourced locally.

Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director of Omoluabi Holdings, Dr Tunde Faleye all saluted the laudable innovation of the state government under Governor Rauf Aregbesola for the project.
