Oyetola reappoints Alakija as UNIOSUN chancellor
In the reappointment letter that he personally signed, Oyetola lauded the appointee on her “track record as a lover of education, philanthropist of note and above all, a resourceful education manager as demonstrated during her first tenure in office.”
He continued: “In recognition of your outstanding performance and contribution to the development of Osun State University during your first tenure as Chancellor and in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me in paragraph 1 (2) of First Schedule to the Osun State University Law 2006, I am delighted to reappoint you as Chancellor of the institution for a second term of five years beginning from March 9, 2021.”
In remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Labode Popoola, said the reappointment was not a blessing to the ivory tower alone, but also to the entire state and the education sector at large.
The don added: “Dr. Folorunso Alakija’s first tenure gave birth to a lot of physical and infrastructure developments in the university. Mama, as I fondly call her, is a committed and dedicated administrator par excellence that any university will ever want and I am happy that we, at UNIOSUN, are very lucky to have her.
