PPFN lauds Adewole’s appointment into IPPF’s Board

The President, Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN), Wilfred Nkwagu, and the Executive Director of PPFN, Dr Ibrahim Ibrahim, have lauded the appointment of former Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Federation.

The duo in a joint statement in Abuja, described the appointment of Adewole into the Board of IPPF as well-deserving, and provides an opportunity for him to bring his wealth of knowledge into the governance of global reproductive health programme.
 
The statement read in part, “The Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN), congratulates Prof Adewole on his appointment, which is well-deserving. We are the committed to upholding and working in line with IPPF’s code of conduct for good governance and principles of membership within the operating environment.”
 
They expressed satisfaction over the successful reaccreditation of PPFN by the parent body, IPPF, promising to do more in compliance with 49 essential membership standards.
 
According to them, the reaccreditation is a testimony of PPFN’s excellence and adherence to the desirable goals of IPPF, and will work to sustain the scorecard.
Recall that the Governing Council of IPPF on May 16, announced new 15-member Board of Trustees at the end of its meeting, which Prof Adewole is one of them.

Bience Gawanas, another prominent African, and a former Commissioner for Social Affairs, African Union, and current UN Under Secretary General, is also a member of the body.
