Save our jobs, newly recruited NIS officers plead with Buhari

Some newly recruited but yet to be confirmed officers of the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to save their jobs.

Some newly recruited but yet to be confirmed officers of the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to save their jobs.

The fresh recruits alleged their new job was being threatened since the sack of erstwhile Comptroller-General of the (NIS), David Parrandang.

According to the officers who spoke as a group in Abuja, they said; “we are currently being threatened with the loss of our jobs following the recent suspension of David Parradang, former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service.”
“This has sparked fear among us the newly recruited officers and currently await President Muhammadu Buhari’s intervention in this matter because we believe in you.

The affected officers, who do not want their names in print said their recruitment process was free, fair, open and credible while successful candidates were chosen on merit.
The Federal Government on 26th, March 2014 under President Goodluck Jonathan set up a Presidential Committee to assess the controversial recruitment exercise following the failed recruitment where 15 prospective NIS job seekers lost their lives.

The committee was an 11-man committee made up of the heads of the various paramilitary organisations in the country under the Chairmanship of the Chairman Federal Civil Service Commission, with representatives of DG Federal Character Commission, Attorney-general of the Federation, Head of service and the Permanent Secretary General Services office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

However, the concerned officers stated that vacancies were advertised on February 9, 2015 on the website of Federal Civil Service Commission and other media. According to them youths from across the country applied and those who met the requirement were short-listed for a computer based aptitude test.

“Between 20th and 24th 2015 of April test were conducted in Zaria, Lagos, Abuja, Bauchi and Enugu where candidate that passed the test were asked to report to the service commands for physical examination.
