Standard Chartered launches ‘Employee Volunteering Month’

COMMITTED to making a positive impact in various communities, Standard Chartered Bank has completed arrangement to hold its Employee Volunteering Month programme.

The event, slated for September 21 to October 20 was designed to enable the workers use their interests and skills to render services in their various local communities.

According to the bank, “Many spend time working on causes supported by the bank, such as eradicating preventable blindness, support for people living with HIV/AIDS or financial education. Other employees choose to volunteer for a cause close to their own heart, from planting trees, mentoring or training youth on health and hygiene.

Commenting on the launch, Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Bola Adesola, said: “We believe that volunteering is good for our communities, staff and our business. The Bank offers every employee three days paid leave to volunteer and its great to see staff showing strong commitment and passion to serve the community in which we operate.  We look forward to the opportunity of using our skills in making a unique contribution to Nigeriathis year”.
She added that the workers donated over 9,700 employee-volunteering days in Africa last year.
