Emerging music sensation, Nnorom Ugochukwu, popularly known as 1Jay, has unveiled his much-anticipated album, WINS & LOSSES, a body of work that combines soulful vocals, captivating storytelling, and a seamless fusion of genres.

Known for his emotive lyrics and powerful delivery, 1Jay’s latest offering reflects themes of love, loss, self-discovery, and perseverance, resonating deeply with listeners of diverse musical tastes.

He explained that the album’s title draws inspiration from the life of a warrior or champion, who battles with the mindset of winning despite experiencing both triumphs and setbacks. “We all aim to win,” he said. “When victories come, we celebrate, and when losses happen, we rise again and keep moving forward.”

The album marks a significant evolution in 1Jay’s artistry. His debut project, OnyeOma the EP, which translates to “a good person” in Igbo, focused on love and kindness, featuring tracks like “Love from Accra” and “My Soul,” which emphasised themes of compassion and appreciating true love.

In contrast, WINS & LOSSES reflects resilience and hope, offering a deeper and more introspective take on life’s journey.

“This project is different,” 1Jay explained. “It’s about hope, hard work, peace, and love. While my debut EP celebrated relationships and goodwill, this album explores the ups and downs of life, inspiring listeners to keep going no matter the challenges.”

The album is the result of a joint effort involving multi-talented producers and artists. Producers like Teekaywithy, BigWig Jambo, and Jambo brought their unique touch to the tracks, while collaborations with artists such as Terry Apala, Sugarbana, and Fanye added depth and variety to the sound.

“I’m particularly excited about ‘Positive Vibes,’ which features Terry Apala,” 1Jay revealed. “Every collaboration on this album was meaningful and brought something special to the table.”

At its core, WINS & LOSSES speaks to the human experience. The songs preach peace, love, and the value of consistent hard work. 1Jay hopes the album’s messages will inspire listeners to embrace their own journeys with courage and determination.

“I want my fans to feel hopeful,” he said. “Life is full of wins and losses, but the key is to never give up. This album is a reminder that perseverance and love can help you overcome anything.”

Creating WINS & LOSSES was not without its challenges. Coordinating schedules with collaborators and perfecting each track required significant time and effort. “Time was the most challenging aspect,” 1Jay admitted. “But big shoutout to the producers and artists who made it all possible.”

Despite the challenges, the album reflects 1Jay’s growth as an artist. “My sound has matured, my storytelling has become more intentional, and I’ve embraced diverse styles and collaborations,” he noted. “This album showcases my journey and my connection with my audience.”

The rollout for WINS & LOSSES promises to be as dynamic as the album itself. 1Jay has planned a live listening session, media tours, and performances to engage directly with fans.
