EscapeMag Releases Issue 14, Launches Digital Platform To Boost Africa’s Creative Economy

EscapeMag has released its 14th issue, featuring rising cultural figures Qing Madi

EscapeMag has released its 14th issue, featuring rising cultural figures Qing Madi and Kid Baby on its cover, while also announcing the beta launch of a new digital platform aimed at strengthening Africa’s creative economy.

The latest issue, themed The Blueprint in Real Time, highlights Qing Madi as a symbol of a new generation of African artists focused on intentional growth, identity, and global relevance. Kid Baby also appears as a co-cover star, representing the growing influence of digital storytelling and performance-driven content within the continent’s evolving cultural landscape.

According to EscapeMag, Issue 14 continues its editorial mission of documenting and amplifying African creatives across industries including music, fashion, film, art, and design. The publication features a diverse mix of talents such as Imisi and Phyna, who share insights into their careers after reality television. Other creatives spotlighted include Abbietayo, Kotrell, Apex Village, and Bridget Blue, alongside Sneakey Titan, Matt Sax, CUTEES, MAYSN, and creative executive Kini-Abasi Edet.

In a major development, the platform also announced the beta launch of the Escape Platform, marking its transition from a digital magazine into a broader creative ecosystem. The platform is designed to provide African creatives with tools to publish, distribute, and monetize their work while connecting them to brands, collaborators, and opportunities across the continent and diaspora.

Key features of the platform include a monetized blog system for long-form content, an integrated marketplace, and a custom-built digital magazine reader designed to deliver immersive editorial experiences. EscapeMag said the initiative is part of its strategy to address infrastructure gaps in Africa’s creative sector, particularly around sustainability and revenue generation.

The company noted that the platform aims to empower creatives to own their narratives, build scalable careers, and generate long-term value from their work. This shift reflects a broader ambition to move beyond content creation into building systems that support the business of creativity.

EscapeMag operates a digital-first model with distribution across web, video, and social channels. The platform reports over 1.15 million total views and 369,000 accounts reached, with 96 percent of its audience engagement driven organically. Its core audience consists largely of Gen Z and Millennials aged 18 to 34, with a strong presence in Nigeria, Ghana, the United Kingdom, and South Africa.

The company is led by co-founders Okiki Laoye and Adeshina Salau, who say the new platform is part of a long-term vision to build a sustainable, IP-driven media ecosystem for African creatives.
