Isaac Bholu captivates audience at Utopia Theatre in Sheffield

The Utopia Theatre is a platform that showcases Africans that live abroad to a wider audience. They represent their culture, share stories and challenge misconceptions about Africa. This is why the recent Utopia Theatre’s open mic night at Sheffield is significant. More importantly, the performance of Isaac Bholu, a Nigerian actor and performer was impressive.

The event, which ran from 6pm to 8pm had an audience all from different parts of the city and beyond. At the Theatre’s Creative Hub in Sheffield City Centre, United Kingdom, artists who are Africans and they in the diaspora expressed their culture and Life realities in different ways. Isaac Bholu’s performance with Faloh Jagaban really made comedy effortless. There were performances of other African artists like the guitarist, Olaniyan Olamide (Lammy Wonder) and with the performance of Burna Boy’s “Killing Dem” by Femisticky. Isaac Bholu still gave the memorable performance with his funny playlet on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

The playlet between Isaac Bholu and Faloh Jagaban was a hilarious look at the lives of two African roommates in the UK. Isaac Bholu stood out in his unique outfit, wearing white lace with a black sweatshirt, red sports shoes, and a red cap turned backward. The humour started when Isaac’s character got upset because Faloh took his money and his wallet. Before that, Isaac Bholu used Faloh’s toothpaste without asking, and Faloh got upset. Isaac simply argued that sharing is a normal part of living together far from home. Isaac again used Faloh’s perfume and Faloh believes whatever belongs to one person can be shared by the other. When Isaac used the same logic back on him, the audience burst into laughter. This simple story felt very real to many people in the crowd because it showed the funny side of sharing a home in a new country.

Isaac Bholu’s performance stood out because of his strong comedic timing, as well as his expressive voice, face expressions, and body language. However, the way of mixing jokes with real meaning makes him more creative. Isaac Bholu’s years of experience really contributed to his performance. He has been using his God given talent to make people laugh as a comedian for many years now. Apart from this, he’s a good actor while his online videos on some social media pages have also been able to promote his work. He acted the role of a roommate in the UK with a fellow Nigerian, and the audience celebrated with them.

Isaac’s act showed why places like Utopia Theatre’s Open Mic are so important. They give a platform for new talents to showcase their talent. Isaac Bholu’s performance is a reflection of the culture back home that was continued in the UK, or that could be in any country abroad away from home. This performance will be understood more by Africans or Nigerians who share things back home because of probably lack of some needs, or love due to our communal ways of life, but Isaac Bholu passed a message, showing how boundaries are essential, even though Africans believe that “Whatever is yours is mine…”

The night showed that African culture is still strong even in a new place. Many people enjoyed how the different acts brought a piece of home to the stage in Sheffield. At the Utopia Theatre’s Open Mic Night, in Sheffield, Isaac Bholu represented African culture, and used comedy to remind the audience that love and sharing are important values in many African communities. Isaac Bholu did what comedians do. They make us happy while they pass their powerful messages in their funny performances.
