Over The Bridge screens ahead of Sept 5 release

Nile Cinemas at Vintano Hotel, Lekki, played host to an exclusive screening of Over The Bridge, the much-anticipated drama directed by Tolu Ajayi, written and produced by Tosin Otudeko, and distributed by Nile Entertainment.

The film officially opens in cinemas nationwide from September 5.

Set in the heart of corporate Lagos, Over The Bridge follows a man tasked with overseeing a major public infrastructure project that suddenly collapses, triggering a nationwide investigation and his own search for redemption.

Speaking after the screening, the Director, Tolu Ajayi, reflected on the film’s journey across London, New York, Nairobi, Kigali, and eight Francophone countries, saying: “One of the things I’m proudest of is that it’s a film every person can connect with. There’s always something to take away,” he said.

Writer and producer Tosin Otudeko explained the inspiration behind the story: “I’ve always been curious about how decisions made in the corporate and political worlds ripple out into society.

That’s what sparked Over The Bridge.” She recalled the competitive casting process but praised the chemistry between Ozzy Agu and Segilola Ogidan, crediting Ajayi for bringing out performances that highlight the depth of Nollywood talent.

On challenges, Otudeko admitted that balancing budget demands, schedules, and vast locations stretched the team, but credited Nile Entertainment’s backing for making distribution possible. With 12 AMVCA nominations and two wins already secured, she described the recognition as “deeply gratifying and proof of the team’s hard work.”

Lead actor Ozzy Agu, who plays Folarin, spoke about the emotional weight of the role. “I was drawn to the psychological depth of the character. The process was truly collaborative—Tolu was open to our creative input, which made the work richer.”

For the Group CEO of The Nile Media Entertainment Group, Moses Babatope, the film represents the kind of storytelling built for the big screen.

“Its cinematography and global recognition already speak volumes about its quality,” he said.

Nile Entertainment’s GM, Mrs Nowekere Alexis Segun-Ojo, added: “When filmmakers create great titles like Over The Bridge, they know they have a home here.”

The film also drew glowing reactions from guests. Deyemi Okanlawon and Zeezee Ihe-Okuneye urged audiences not to miss the lessons embedded in the story.

Distribution strategist and impact producer Cassandra Ojiugo Onwualu praised its layered storytelling, its bold take on Lagos, and its sensitivity to issues of mental health and family.

As Over The Bridge heads to cinemas nationwide this Friday, it brings with it a promise: a Nollywood story that blends corporate intrigue, personal reckoning, and universal themes in ways that will stay with audiences long after the credits roll.
